Originally from Nottingham, Thomas D Hopkinson is a recent alumnus of The National Opera Studio supported by the Sybil Tutton Award. He previously graduated from Royal Northern College of Music where he earned his MMus and Postgraduate Diploma.

Engagements for 2023/24 include cover Sparafucile (Rigoletto) for Welsh National Opera; Fafner (Siegfried) for The London Opera Company; Elijah for Salford Choral Society; A Sea Symphony for The University of Manchester Chorus, Messiah for Saddleworth Male Voice Choir and cover Daland (Die Fliegende Holländer) for Opera North.
